Why Your Contribution Matters

    Each new bird we take in costs an average of $500 within the first 30 days. This number can be more or less depending on health, veterinary needs/recommendations and if the bird requires a specialty diet.

  • ✽

    Our agency spends between $60-$300 a month just on bird food. This ranges depending on how many birds we have at any given time.

  • ✽

    Every Avian Veterinary visit starts at $219. This number reflects a perfectly healthy bird with no other needs or concerns. Unfortunately this is not the case with most birds we receive where a typical appointment costs around $500-$1000.

  • ✽

    SAAS Is privately owned and operated completely by volunteers. No one working for these birds makes any money.

  • ✽

    Enrichment is extremely important for a birds health and well-being. Though we try to be as frugal and creative as possible, we still need to purchase toys to keep these intelligent animals busy and engaged.

  • ✽

    We do not receive any government funding and are completely dependent on our generous donors, like you!
